National Diabetes Prevention Program

For the better part of the year, the American Diabetes Association and the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Program (CDPC) at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (Public Health Unit) have collaborated to carry out several initiatives aimed at raising awareness of prediabetes and securing programming for the prevention of diabetes. Together, the two were able to train a group of approximately 20 individuals (held in Lincoln, June 2017) on how to lead the National Diabetes Prevention Program – a yearlong, lifestyle change program designed to reduce one’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes through adopting healthy eating habits and increasing physical activity minutes. They also co-presented at a statewide Chronic Disease conference showcasing their invaluable work implementing and sustaining programming, as well as resources, for the prevention and management of diabetes throughout Nebraska.
